Research Strengths

UTS:IT has developed into one of Australia's premier research and research training centres, possessing top researchers at the cutting-edge of one of the most exciting sciences. Our commitment to the production of high quality research output in collaboration with other faculties, universities and industries has been demonstrated through the significant increase in high quality research publications, PhD completions and competitive research grants awarded, in particular research grants from the Australian Research Council.

Three new research strengths have been established for UTS:IT which reflect our primary goal to produce high quality research in collaboration with industry and commerce. Each research strength includes a number of specialised research laboratories that bring together academic staff, experts, research students and external organisations to develop new and innovative ideas and apply them in practice. The quality and relevance of the collaborative research in these laboratories is enhanced by well-established links, both with industry and with overseas research institutions.

Our three research strengths are:

Centre for Quantum Computation and Intelligent Systems - UTS:QCIS
One of the university's five strategic investment areas recognised for their research excellence and for their national and international impact in areas of global importance.

Centre for Innovation in IT Services and Applications - iNEXT

Centre for Human Centred Technology Design - HCTD
