Background Information
This course explores mobile commerce applications combined with the advantages of mobile communications technologies, the drivers of which have been identified as ubiquity, reachability, security, convenience, localisation, instant connectivity and personalisation (Durlacher Research). Mobile commerce will allow people to access data type communications such as email, information, financial dealings, entertainment services and to purchase goods anytime, anywhere. Many operators and businesses are inhibited, due to security concerns, from delivering mobile projects and services that either improve business processes or generate additional revenue. This course will address legal and security concerns and offer proposals for solutions.

Assessment
The course has a strong practical emphasis and participants will be required to complete practical and computer based assessments. In general the three hour sessions will consist of a series of one and a half hour lectures and one and a half hour practical laboratory sessions. Participants will be expected to complete set assignments and discuss case studies on wireless technology and m-commerce applications.
