Terri wanted to expand her horizons and develop in her career so she decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Science in IT at UTS. The convenient city location of UTS was definitely a bonus. It is always a challenge to combine work and university study but Terri has three jobs!

Terri works for a web design company called Nashweb where she works as a web designer/programmer. "I design and program websites, some with databases and send marketing emails. I also design logos, printed folders, business cards, brochures and postcards for mailouts."

As if that wasn't enough Terri has established her own web design business, Webgarden Media working part-time doing similar work to that at Nashweb, but for her own clients and on a smaller scale.

Then in between all this Terri manages to fit in working as an entertainment booking agent for her husband's bands - The Bellhops and The Hellboppers.

How has Terri found her course at UTS?
"UTS gave me the flexibility to incorporate design subjects into my study plan that contributed to my growth and skill as a web designer. I really enjoyed the focus on practical projects such as creating an animated portfolio CD and a printed magazine that relate to the real world."

It was through UTS that Terri was invited to join Females in Information Technology and Telecommunications(FITT) to maintain their website. "This has allowed me to meet some great women with a wealth of experience in all areas of the IT industry and business."

"The most interesting project I would have worked on so far is creating a web database linked to a successful competition entry form that allows people to win a prize, join an e-newsletter mailing list and refer their friends to win prizes, without spamming anyone."

"In the future I would like to keep striving to become better at what I do through lifelong learning and experience."
