Ngoc Dang

Ngoc Dang was attracted to the BIT because the course had, "the right balance of formal University learning and industry experience."

"The BIT program has such tight bonds with the IT industry and is highly regarded in the corporate world - I definitely wanted to be a part of that", said Ngoc, who is in her second year of the course.

UTS:IT smacks on the head the old stereotype of IT students: code; coke; and pizza. Ngoc liked what she saw at UTS, "The atmosphere at UTS:IT was relaxed and friendly with a great sense of community amongst the students - they weren't anti-social at all!"

Ngoc's first industry experience in first year was a real eye opener. In the second semester she was working at Cargowise edi.

"I am grateful to be given the opportunity to apply theories taught at university in a real world environment so early in my education. At EDI I was given real tasks and responsibilities, and made to feel a valued member of the company - not just a student. I'm very glad I decided to do the BIT course at UTS."

Ngoc spent the last semester of her course overseas on a study abroad exchange at San Francisco State University, which is something many of our undergraduate students choose to do.

Having completed her second industry placement with Westpac Ngoc gained a graduate position with them in 2008.
